HAEMATITE
Haematite, red iron oxide, takes its name from haema, the Greek word for blood. We find it running like blood the body of Gaia, our mother Earth. We smell the smell of blood when we wet the pigment. We read in the Bible that from Adamah (earth in Hebrew) God created the first man Adam (meaning in Hebrew : to be red). In the tiny particles of dust the great mysteries of Life are captured, awaiting possibly for Art to reveal them…
