RAW SIENNA
Raw Sienna earth is one of the most famous natural pigments. Very close to an okhra, it is extracted from weathered iron deposits in Monte Amiata, Tuscany. The region is famous for the mining and production of this pigment for centuries. Due to the composition of this particular segment of earth, including hydrated iron oxide, haematite (iron oxide) and traces of manganese oxide, we get a brownish-yellow powder with great tinting power.
